ECOTOURISM AND PROGRAMS IN THE NATURAL PARK OF MANU

Thank you for inquiring about our Amaru Mayu Program  are jungle specialists that can cater for any kind of trips in the Manu National Park and Biosphere Reserve.

At Amaru Mayu Ecological Reserve believe in protecting and conserving the environment, promoting the small local enterprise of the area in cooperation with the local native communities, standing up for laboural rights and work ethics and promoting fair trade. And ensuring you have an adventure life time, whilst preserving Manu National Park and Biosphere Reserve.

ITINERARY 

Day  1.- CUSCO - CLOUD FOREST

Departure from our hotels at 6.oo.a.m. Traveling through the spectacular Andean ranges at 3800m asl.

passing by the ruins of Ninamarca, where we will see chullpas, pre-Inca burial towers from the Lupacas. The road eventual winds down to the Paucartambo colonial town where we will stop for lunch and visit. As  we begin our ascent through what is referred to as the Puna ecological zone, that we find the home of the rare taruca, or Huemal Deer as well as the beautiful rabbit.  The Puna is also home to rarely seen predators such as the Andean fox and Puma. At Tres Cruzes, the highest point in our journey, we gaze out We have just entered the Manu National Park, at only 5 hours from Cusco.  With the breath taking view of the cloud forest we descend into the Cloud forest where the tree canopy covered by mist gives life to a profusion of epiphytes, mosses, luscious green ferns and the Kur-Kur (High land bamboo).  Whilst its accessibility appears at least for us daunting, it is a veritable playground for the vast number of birds.  Here flocks of tanagers, warblers, toucans and hummingbirds dart though the impenetrable forest overhead of the Spectacled Bears, Pumas and Woolly Monkeys that roam through the forest.  We arrive at Cloud Forest Lodge at 4 p.m. and after a relaxed look around the facilities we head of to explore the wonders of the Cloud Forest.  After a delicious meal, we can enjoy the beautiful surroundings before turning in for  the evening. 

Day 2.- CLOUD FOREST - PILLCOPATA - AMARU MAYU

 At daybreak, we make our way to an observation post where with a little luck we will be able to watch the fascinating dance of Peru’s National Bird the Cock-of-the-Rock and hopefully spy the Woolly Monkey.  We return to the lodge where a hearty breakfast continuing our trip we will arrive to Patria at 1 hour the cloud forest where we will commence the touching rafting and  through the different landscapes concluding in Amaru Mayu Ecological Reserve, after lunch we will prepare to Trek “Refuge Paititi Path” a 2 hour trek to Piñi Piñi Beach surrounded by primary mountain forest with the possibility to watch and observe a variety of Monkey species and other mammals unaware of our presence. Also observing the abundant native flora that is present in this Region. Returning to Amaru Mayu by boat for dinner  where we spend our last night in this natural paradise.    

Day 3.-  AMARU MAYU . CUSCO

Wake up early morning. After breakfast we then take into the tropical community plantations recognizing and sampling some fruits of the forest before returning.  Then continuing our trip the bus ascends through the mysterious Cloud Forest full of beautiful orchids, helicons and primitive ferns observe the trogons (Trogon sp.) and many more. With luck, and finally arrive around at 7 or 9 p.m. to Cusco, the Inca Capital.
